Question by Anony-mouse: Any lesbian young adult books that are not about a tortuous existence?
It seems that all the lesbian books for teens feature coming-out stories, or how nobody accepts them, or how they have to fight for their rights. And they’re all romance novels, essentially. Are there any books featuring lesbians that don’t focus on their sexuality? I don’t want to read romance, and why would I want to read about prejudice? There’s enough of that in real life. I just want some normal books, action, adventure, mystery, science fiction, whatever, but that happens to have a lesbian or two as featured characters.

Well I’m sure there are Japanese books like that. Here in America most people think lesbians are sluts that only exist for the men to watch… But in Japan they have Sailor Moon in which there is a lesbian couple and yet it isn’t all mushy gushy the whole time and it doesn’t have prejudice, just the occasional lovey-dovey scene and lots of action. and not sexual action, just fight scenes and such hehe
